I bought this as a parts car to fix my 65 El Camino, but realized it was a better fit for the family, so I fixed up the Camino and sold that.
I worked on this for about 18 months then made it my daily driver while I lived in San Diego. This involved weekly trips to the junk yard finding everything from the nose, to the motor and trans. I did a cheap rebuild of everything and had it painted. I put about 20,000 miles on it over a couple of years, then used it to move to New Jersey, towing a trailer with the wife's Volvo on it. Now it is just for cruises and shows. My son and I built a 383 stroker motor for it, converted it to a four speed manual and put in a decent sound system, just in time for the 2006 Hot Rod Magazine Power Tour. This was a trip to Kissimmee FL, then a 7 day trip back to Englishtown NJ with 1500 other hot rods. It even got it's 15 seconds of fame with a picture in the Nov 06 issue of Hot Rod.
