1986 Ford Mustang LX T-Top Coupe

These are "before" and "after" photos of my extremely rare, 1986 Ford Mustang LX. Why is it "rare," you ask? The car is one of very few '86 Mustang coupe models that were produced with a "T"-style roof, and equipped with a 5.0-Liter engine/5-speed transmission combination. I don't have the actual numbers, but it's safe to say that the car is one of 500 or fewer coupes that were configured this way in 1986.

I acquired this car through the Internet, and brought it home with no drivetrain, a hammered interior and extensive body damage that was covered up by bondo and a cheap paint job.

Over the course of 11 months, the car was fully "Fox-rod" restored, with full bodywork and a custom Ultra Black w/Charcoal Grey paint job, a completely redone interior w/custom 600-watt stereo, an 830 rear-wheel-horsepower, Paxton Novi 2000-supercharged, 350 cubic-inch, small-block Ford engine done by A.R.E Performance and Machine of Simi Valley, CA, w/Performance Automatic Super Comp AODE transmission, Racecraft front suspension and Chris Alston's Chassisworks "FAB9" rear end, rear suspension w/VariShock double-adjustable shocks and a T-top-specific 12-point roll cage by Chris Alston's Chassisworks. My coupe has won many first-place awards at Southern California Ford car shows, and on the drag strip, the Mustang has run a best e.t. of 9.79 seconds at 142 miles-per-hour. That's all fine and well. The BEST thing about my rare coupe is the fact that it's registered and insured..."street legal"...and I can take it out for cruises any time I want to...with the stereo blasting, of course!
